Diapers and clothing are staples at any baby shower but if you are looking for a creative gift that is unique and customisable, this is a great option. I was recently invited to a baby shower and I wanted to create something that suits both mum and sensitive skin of the new born boy.

Goats milk soap in a shape of cute shoes was an answer to my dilemma. The soap itself is perfect for a pregnant belly as well as post-partum skin that could use a little extra care. It is gentle enough to use for baby, and provides a fun gift for everyone.

You can duplicate this recipe and use a variety of molds for mother’s day, birthdays, Easter baskets and stocking stuffers.

Here’s what you’ll need to make baby shower gift:

  • White Soap Base: This is an ideal product for sensitive skin. A 100 percent vegetable-based soap is hypoallergenic, biodegradable, and free from all sulphates, surfactants, detergents, artificial colors, or alcohols. For more recipes with White Soap Base, click here.
  • Goats Milk: Straight from the farm, this is a gentle and effective way to clean and nourish the skin at the same time. It removes excess oil and makeup while remaining gentle to sensitive skin.
  • Blue Mica: Mica is a natural product that is mined and then coated with pigment or colorants. We used blue because it was for a baby boy shower, but you can use any color you’d like depending on the holiday, season, and mould.  For more recipes with Blue Mica, click here.
  • Bubble Gum Fragrance Oil: This is a light and pleasant scent. Don’t worry, it is not going to fill your shower with the smell of sugary pink gum, it only gives a hint of sweetness that is not overpowering. If you prefer, you can change this for another fragrance oil of your preference.
  • Baby Shoe Silicone Mould: These are similar to the silicone molds you may have in your kitchen. They provide the perfect size and shape four your soap. For more recipes with baby shoe mould, click here.

Start by cutting the white soap base into cubes. Place the cubes in a microwave safe dish, and melt until the soap base is completely liquefied.

Add a few teaspoons of goat’s milk, a hint of blue mica coloring, and a dropper of fragrance oil.

Pour the mixture into the mould and allow it to harden at room temperature. You can also cure in the freezer if you are short on time.

Once the soap is hardened, pop it out of the mould and gift wrap as you like.

Friends and family are sure to appreciate the handmade quality and unique gift that is perfect for a new mum and a brand new baby.
