The daily upkeep of silky smooth legs can be exhausting, especially if you are heading to the beach or showing off your latest shift dress.

Shaving your legs day after day is time consuming and can lead to a significant cost in razors over time.

Waxing is effective, but painful. Now, you can enjoy the best of both worlds without the high cost or the pain of traditional hair removal methods.

Body sugaring is a natural hair removal option that dates back to the Egyptians.

Using this simple method, the hair is removed by the root, similar to waxing. However, with body sugaring, the hair grows back lighter, softer, and finer than it was before and there is less of it.

Although the process is similar to waxing, most find it much less painful.

Here is what you will need:

  • Beeswax: This is a thickening agent, and gives the scrub structure once it has cooled. It also has emollient properties to aid in skin care. For more recipes with beeswax, click here.

  • Brown Sugar: Brown sugar, as opposed to white sugar, has natural glycolic acid which conditions and moisturizes your skin.

  • Vitamin E: This deep moisturiser acts as skin protection, repair, and antioxidant. The natural properties of vitamin E help to keep skin healthy and smooth. For more recipes with vitamin E, click here.

  • Lemon: The acidity in lemon helps to remove the hair, and nourish the skin underneath.

Pour 2 tsp beeswax beads into a small bowl and add 2-3 tsp of brown sugar.

Mix together and warm up until the beeswax is just barely melted.

Then add the juice of half a lemon and mix thoroughly.

Pour in an airtight container and store for up to two weeks.

When you are ready to use, be sure the mixture is warm – but not too hot.

Test the temperature on the palm of your hand to be sure it is safe to use.

Using a dull knife or wooden stick to spread the cooled sugar mixture onto your skin, cover with a strip of clean cotton fabric, let set for a few minutes and then rip off in the opposite direction of the hair growth.

When kept in an airtight container, you can reheat the mixture to a warm temperature and reuse.

Many people prefer sugaring over waxing because the solution will stick less to the skin, making it gentler than waxing.

Another bonus to sugaring is that it is water soluble, so you can easily remove excess if necessary.
